1. Information We Collect

When you use Chair Six, we collect the following information:

  • Account Information: Email address, username, and password (hashed). If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID token.
  • Profile Information: Home mountain, skill level, season passes, profile photo, status message, and social media handles you choose to share.
  • Location Data: GPS coordinates collected only while you actively track a ski run. We never track your location in the background without your knowledge.
  • User Content: Posts, comments, forum threads, direct messages, photos, and videos you create.
  • Ski Run Data: Speed, distance, vertical feet, and GPS traces recorded during tracked runs.
  • Device Identifiers: Push notification tokens used to deliver notifications to your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and operate the app
  • Display your profile to other users based on your privacy settings
  • Enable social features (following, messaging, forums)
  • Calculate and display ski statistics
  • Send push notifications you've opted into
  • Detect and prevent abuse, spam, and policy violations
  • Improve the app experience

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

Your profile information is visible to other users according to your privacy settings. You control who can see your location, activity status, and ski stats through the Privacy Settings screen.

Direct messages are private between you and the recipient. We do not read, analyze, or share the content of your messages.

We may share information with law enforcement if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. We use Row Level Security (RLS) policies to ensure users can only access data they are authorized to see.

Ski run data is stored locally on your device and synced to our servers only when you create a post.

5. Your Privacy Controls

Chair Six gives you granular control over your privacy:

  • Location Visibility: Choose who can see which resort you're at (Everyone, Followers, Friends, or Just Me)
  • Discoverability: Control whether you appear in search and suggestions
  • Follow Permissions: Allow or disable others from following you
  • Message Permissions: Choose who can send you direct messages
  • Activity Status: Show or hide when you were last active
  • Ski Stats: Show or hide your run statistics on your profile

6. Data Retention and Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from the Privacy Settings or Profile screen. When you delete your account:

  • Your profile, messages, follows, ski runs, and personal data are permanently deleted
  • Posts and comments you created remain visible but are anonymized — your username is replaced with "[deleted]"
  • Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone

We retain deleted account data for up to 30 days in backups, after which it is permanently purged.

7. Children's Privacy

Chair Six is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

8. Push Notifications

You can opt into push notifications for likes, comments, follows, messages, and other activity. All notification preferences can be managed in the Notification Settings screen. We use Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) to deliver notifications.

9. Third-Party Services

Chair Six uses the following third-party services:

  • Supabase: Database and authentication hosting
  • Apple Sign In: Optional authentication provider
  • Apple Push Notification Service: Push notification delivery

We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or data brokers.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify users of material changes through the app.
